Insieme a "Sybaritic metal", questa canzone potrebbe essere la quintessenza del messaggio rotgodiano. È anche l'unica canzone su "Sonic degeneracy" in cui ho fatto uso dello storytelling mitologico per esprimere un'idea. Il testo mostra la cosiddetta "corruzione" di Adamo ed Eva dalla prospettiva del serpente (c'è sempre un altro lato della storia...), e il ritornello omaggia il film "L'avvocato del diavolo" citando il classico discorso di Al Pacino su Dio (il mio monologo preferito nella storia del cinema). La canzone è un inno fanatico e trionfante alla libertà, all'auto-appagamento, all'independenza da ogni imperativo trascendentale, e alla potenza del sapere scientifico che l'uomo può usare per manipolare le forze della natura a proprio vantaggio; in breve, ciò che mi piace definire "umanesimo cinico". Potremo anche essere stati banditi dal paradiso e costretti a una vita di sforzi, ma ricordate... è sempre "meglio regnare all'inferno che servire in paradiso"!
