Rotgod's Art: Before the impact... / Sybaritic metal

When it comes to my work as Rotgod, I've always tried to keep as much of a "do it yourself" mentality as possible, in order to maintain maximum creative control over the project. There was a thing I couldn't really master by myself, though: the artworks. I had many ideas, but couldn't execute them properly due to my piss-poor drawing skills: that's why I got in touch with Onìkarus, who was able to turn the concepts in my head into proper artworks.

The cover art for "Before the impact..." was a rather straightforward work: it started from a very primitive sketch of mine, and Onìkarus went on to refine what I had originally presented in a very rough form. The use of dotted technique to represent shadows in the background is particularly interesting, as well as the tiny "issue #0" box in classic comic book style - which makes sense since this first single had to carry the arduous task of testing the audience's reactions, just like the "issue zero" of a new magazine with uncertain sales prospects.

For "Sybaritic metal", things were more complicated: a parody of the historical "Number of the beast" cover art is not something to be taken lightly - so it was necessary to study and plan everything out meticulously, from proportions to character disposition and their faces (Diprè is more difficult to depict than it may seem at first), along with some other tiny details.

And these aren't even the only artworks that I and Onìkarus prepared together: a tremendous amount of work went into the "Sonic degeneracy" cover art, and you can find more info about it on this other article.
