Rotgod chronology: 2018

2018 was a year of hectic work.
I continued recording, bringing in a vast number of young musicians. I took care of most of the rhythm guitars (finishing them around early fall) and some bass tracks, Krosty recorded his own bass tracks within a couple of sessions just as planned, and Sinistro helped me out with some rhythm/lead guitar parts for "Organic machine", "Hell from within", "Cult of fornication", "How to be deep (pt. 1)" and the "Jesus Christ pornostar" suite (plus, he played acoustic guitar on the "Wandering moon" instrumental). Another musician involved in the guitar department was Jan (who'd later go on to form the mighty Spasticus), who recorded some rhythm sections for the Destruction and Assorted Heap covers.

I started tracking drums during summer, with the help of various drummers... unfortunately, after a promising start, some slowdowns and defections got in the way, severely affecting the recording process as a whole and dragging it through most of 2019. After completing some instrumentals, I also started tracking the vocals, with a rather "unorthodox" method involving cheap discount beer and throwing tantrums inside the rehearsal room.

Meanwhile, I started thinking about the project's release. Ideally, I would've wanted to have everything ready by 2019 - but as stated above, the recordings were taking more time than predicted, after a rather promising start. Anyway, many things at the time had already been planned out (for instance, to first release a series of digital maxi-singles/EPs, to include a few cover songs as ideal "B-sides", to make videos for "Denial of nature" and "Sybaritic metal", and the overall concepts for most artworks) - so I reached out to graphic designers Onìkarus and Gore Occulto to put my visual ideas into practice. So, during autumn, the definitive logo was finally created, inspired by the original sketch I had drawn on my school desk three years prior!

By the end of the year, while the recordings were starting to slow down and all the amount of work was starting to take a toll on my mental health as well, I slowly began laying down the first new musical ideas since summer 2017, for what would become "OK zoomer", "Total burnout (taste of Thanatos)" and "God of the gaps" - all songs that would only be recorded and released after the album that was still in the works. Yup - I always prepare things well in advance, is that a surprise?
