Trivia
Together with "Sybaritic metal", this song may be the epitome of Rotgod's message. It's also the only song on "Sonic degeneracy" where I resorted to the use of mythological storytelling in order to express an idea. Lyrics show the so-called "corruption" of Adam and Eve from the serpent's perspective (there's always another side to the story...), and the chorus features an excerpt from the movie "The devil's advocate" in the form of Al Pacino's classic speech about God (my favorite monologue in the history of cinema). The song is a fanatic, triumphant hymn to freedom, self-indulgence, independence from any transcendental imperative, and the power of scientific knowledge man can use to manipulate the forces of nature to his own advantage; in short, what I like to call "cynical humanism". We may have been banned from heaven and forced to live a life of hardship, but remember... it's always "better to reign in hell than serve in heaven"!
