Trivia
A fun, scruffy thrashcore song about christianity, and more specifically how the Catholic Church handles its contradictions - since, in order to expand itself in the west, christianity had to embrace and incorporate ancient western culture, leading to a certain "bipolarism" (or "schizophrenia", as the mighty Necrobutcher from Brazil would say) when it comes to various issues: one approach is more rigid and conservative, the other is more "compassionate" and "progressive" if you will, and this tends to attract people from all different political parties, all of them insisting in saying they possess the "definitive" interpretation of God's word. The Church is aware of this, and generally panders to popular sentiment, paying lip service to the most profitable position to hold at a given point in time. When it became clear that an overly traditional pope didn't resonate enough with the general audience, here comes Francis Bergoglio as a desperate attempt to save the day. And since many progressive figures nowadays cite him as an inspiration, this "rebranding" attempt can be considered successful at least to some extent.
Lyrics
Christianity
A religion full of facets
A mishmash of old pagan cults
And eastern mumbo-jumbo
Contradictory
Everyone just cherry-picks
And sells his own interpretation
As definitive
Bigots, reactionaries
Puritans and fascists
Humanitarians, commies
And social justice warriors
BIPOLAR CHRISTIANITY (x 2)
Catholic Church
Just following the trend
Pandering to one side or another
Just to please the masses
People hate the opulent
And bigot Ratzinger
So here's leftist Pope Francis
To harvest new disciples
Liberals, progressives
And LGBTQs
Conservatives, theocons
Even the alt-right
